The lateral nuclei form the dorsal tier of the lateroventral nuclear complex.

The
lateral nuclei form the dorsal tier of the lateroventral nuclear complex.
Neither of the two lateral nuclei, the lateral
dorsal nu-cleus (A1) and the lateral posterior nu-cleus (A2), receives any extrathalamicinput;
they are connected only with other thalamic nuclei and are therefore viewed as integration nuclei. They send their
efferentfibers to the parietal lobe (A3).
