Phylum Mollusca - (Soft Bodied Animals)
It is the second largest phylum of animal kingdom.
It is a very successful and diverse group of aquatic animals living in both
marine and freshwater habitats. These are soft bodied animals without
segmentation. The body is divided into head, muscular foot and visceral mass. The body
is covered by a mantle enclosed by
an outer shell. Respiration is
carried through gills (ctenidia) or lungs or both. The most common larva is
trochophore, and veliger larva.
