Causes:
o Commonly: acute otitis media, acute sinusitis, acute infectious
exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
o Uncommonly: community acquired pneumonia (more CORD patients)
o Rarely: meningitis
· Antibiotic sensitivity:
o 5% of isolates produce penicillinase Þ resistant to amoxycillin
o Augmentin
o Cefaclor
o Tetracycline (not kids or pregnant)
o Cefuroxime (iv)
o Is not sensitive to erythromycin
