Example 2.10

Convert the given decimals to percentage.

(i) 0.85  (ii) 0.05  (iii) 0.3  (iv) 0.025  (v) 2.25

Solution


(i) 0.85 = 0.85 ×100% = 85/100 ×100% = 85%

(ii) 0.05 =5/100 ×100% = 5%

(iii) 0.3 = 3/10 ×100% = 30%

(iv) 0.025 = [25/1000 ] × 100% = 25 / 10% = 5/2 % or 2 . 5 %

(v) 2.25 = 225/100 × 100% = 225%

 

Try these

Convert these decimals to percentage.

(i) 0.25  (ii) 0.07    (iii) 0.8    (iv) 0.375  (v) 3.75 

Solution

(i) 0.25 = 25/100 = 25%

(ii) 0.7 = 7/100 = 7%

(iii) 0.8 = 80/100 = 80%

(iv) 0.375 = 375/1000 =  375/10 × 1/100 = 37.5/100 = 3.75%

(v) 3.75 = 375/100 = 375%
