Points to Remember

* Kharif, Rabi and Zaid are the main crops cultivated in our country.

* Ploughing, sowing, applying fertilizers, harvesting and storage are the different activities in crop production.

* Sowing by hand, seed drill and dibbling are the methods of sowing seeds.

* The various sources of irrigation are wells, tube wells, ponds, lakes, rivers, dams and canal.

3. Dibbling Placement of seed material in a furrow, pit or hole at predetermined spacing.

4. Sprinkler irrigation Method of applying irrigation water which is similar to natural rainfall.

5. Monoculture Planting of the same crop in the same field year after year.

6. Seed bank A place where seeds are stored in order to preserve genetic diversity.
