Balanoposthitis is acute inflammation of the glans and foreskin associated with a purulent discharge from the preputial orifi ce. This condition affects 4% of boys, mostly between 2 and 5yrs of age. Recurrent episodes rare.

   UTI: Staphylococcus aureus is the most common cause.

 

   Treatment: 5-day course of oral trimethoprim or amoxycillin is appropriate. Topical antibacterials or antifungals are of no value.
