NON CLASSIC REVERSAL AGENTS

Besides cholinesterase inhibitors, two unique drugs (sugammadex and L-cysteine) are currently under investigation in the United States; these agents act as selective antagonists of nondepolarizing neuro-muscular blockade. Sugammadex is able to reverse aminosteroid-induced neuromuscular blockade, whereas cysteine has been shown to reverse the neuromuscular blocking effects of gantacurium and other fumarates.
