LANGUAGE CHECK POINT

 

Incorrect: I last night went to the cinema.

Correct: I went to the cinema last night.

Note: Adverbs or adverbial phrases of definite time like yesterday, today, tomorrow, last week, two months ago, are usually placed at the end of the sentence. If we want to emphasize the time, we put the adverb at the beginning. Yesterday was very busy’

 

Incorrect: Pushpa came here two months before.

Correct: Pushpa came here two months ago.

Note: Ago is used to refer from the time of speaking. Before is used to refer to a point of time in the past.

 

Incorrect: She angrily spoke.

Correct: She spoke angrily.

Note: Adverbs of manner usually go in the end-position.
