Psychosocial/Behavioral Treatments
In addition to challenges related to ambivalence
about stopping opioid use, patients often have serious problems with nonopioid
substance abuse and/or with medical, psychiatric, legal, employ-ment and
family/social issues that preexist or result from the addiction. Research has
found that addressing these additional problems can be helpful, but is complex
and requires coordina-tion between agonist pharmacotherapy staff, and other
medical and psychosocial services.
