In paediatrics, the family history is one of the most important components of the history:

In paediatrics, the family history is one of the most important components of the history:

·  Ages of parents and siblings: you will need to be able to draw the family tree. Include the whole extended family with ages.

·  Illness in the family: does anyone have a history of seizures, asthma, cancer, heart disease, tuberculosis, or any other medical condition? What was the age of onset and the medical advice so far?

·  Death in the family: have there been any deaths in the family? What was the cause and age at death? Were any in infancy or childhood?

·  Social history: where and how does the family live? What are the occupations of the family members? Are there any pets?
