Lifelong therapy and supervision are required in CF. There is a variety of problems that can be expected at different ages.

Infancy

·Meconium ileus.

·Neonatal jaundice (prolonged).

·Hypoproteinaemia and oedema.

Childhood

·Recurrent lower respiratory tract infections.

·Bronchiectasis (occasionally)

·Poor appetite.

·Rectal prolapse.

·Nasal polyps.

·Sinusitis (rare to have symptoms).

Adolescence

·Bronchiectasis.

·Diabetes mellitus.

·Cirrhosis and portal hypertension.

·Distal intestinal obstruction.

·Pneumothorax.

·Haemoptysis.

·Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis.

·Male infertility.

·Arthropathy.

Psychological problems.
