Disinfection methods

Photozone

Using photozone gas for water treatment is similar to the use of ozone gas. If air is blown through a UV light chamber photozone will be produced. The UV wavelength should be less than 200 nm. Photo-zone includes the following substances: ozone, atomic oxygen, hydrogen peroxide and hydrogen dioxide. All of these substances are oxidants and in water are strong disinfectants. Concentrations of these oxidizing substances must be below toxic levels when the water reaches the fish. Use of pho-tozone is not common, but it could be employed where the water requirements are small, such as for disinfecting the water supply to hatcheries.
