When the placenta one-hour after delivery still has not speared and left the upper uterine segment. This occurs when the placenta has grown into the uterine muscle.

When the placenta one-hour after delivery still has not speared and left the upper uterine segment. This occurs when the placenta has grown into the uterine muscle. Types:-

 

·        Placenta accreta- into muscles

 

·        Placenta increata- deep in muscle

 

·        Placenta percrata- through muscle

 

 

Management

 

·        Is usually hysterectomy

 

·        Some times doctors can remove it as a piecemeal under general anesthesia or leave it to be absorbed.
