Communication in nursing
is essential in patient safety, health and well-being, because nurses are at

Listening errors are often the results of multitasking.
Do not make
Assumptions
Assuming a patient knows
what you mean can result in costly errors. Nurses can ask patients to repeat
instructions, which can reveal any misunderstandings or gaps in information.
Read Body Language
Your behaviour, attitude
and posture can affect a patient’s perception.
Strengthen Writing
Skills
Communication includes
writing as well as speaking. Depending on the role or speciality, you may be
responsible for a lot of writing.
