Speaking Activity

 

a) Build a dialogue of 8–10 exchanges between your friend and yourself, on the following situation:

 

You were to board a train to Delhi. By mistake you got into the wrong train and fought for your seat there. On realising your mistake, you left the train shamefaced, after creating a commotion there. Role-play this situation before the class.

Myself : Dear friend, please move and give me room.

Passenger: Please help this gentleman, my friends.

Myself : Thank you very much. Now 1 can go to my berth.

Passenger: What is your berth number sir?

Myselt : it is DI coach berth number sir.

Passenger: (silent)

Myself . Oh, this is no 65. You please go to your berth sir, This is my berth.

Passenger: Sorry sir! This is my berth.

Myself ; No, it is mine. You see my reservation ticket.

Passenger: (Alarmed). Sir, your ticket on Delhi Express. This is Bangalore Express.

Myself : (shocked) Are you sure? I am very sorry sir.

Passenger: That’s all right. Please get off and look for Delhi Express. Please, in future be careful sir.

 

b) Speak to the class for a minute, as to how one should conduct oneself on formal occasions. (You could talk about table-manners especially while eating, general appearance, manner of speaking, etc.)

Table manners while eating:

· Table manners are mostly common sense.

· Wash our hands by using soap oil.

· Sit properly before starting to eat.

· Place your napkin on your lap.

· Drink some water before eating.

· Chew with your mouth closed.

· Don't talk while eating.

· Don't play, hum and sing while eating.

General appearance

· Always should be energetic and brisk.

· Dress code should be neat.

· Always should be with smiling face.

·  Hair cut should be proper.

· Always should be simple and humble. 

Manner of speaking

· Always speak the truth.

· Think and speak positive to others.

· Always use polite words.

· Think well before speaking.
