SPINE
SURGERY
A 54-year-old man is scheduled for lumbar laminectomy
and spine fusion. He suffered a back injury 6 years previously and has
undergone two previous operations without pain relief. The patient takes
oxycodone daily and is limited in his activities. He reports increased numbness
in the left leg and the surgeon requests monitoring of somatosensory evoked
potentials.
