34-year-old woman with major depression presents for electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Her condition has not responded to traditional medical treatments. She is on multiple psychotropic medications including amitriptyline and citalopram. In addition to her major depression, she has a long-standing history of gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD) treated with omeprazole.
