Phonomyography is a new monitoring modality that employs the measurement of low-frequency sound waves.

Phonomyography is a new monitoring modality that employs the measurement of low-frequency sound waves. During muscle contraction, low-frequency sound waves are emitted. These can be detected using special micro-phones in order to measure the degree of neuromuscular blockade. Further study is needed prior to common usage of this modality.
