1. Explain the electoral system
in India.
The electoral
system in India (Indian Constitution part XV, Articles 324 to 329)
• An independent Election Commission is Constituted to ensure
free and fair Elections in the Country. The Commission Consists of a Chief
Election Commissioner and two Election Commissioners.
• The Parliament may make provision with respect to all matters
relating to elections to the Parliament including the preparation of electoral
rolls.
• The state legislatures can also make provisions with respect
to all matters relating to elections to the state legislatures including the
preparation of electoral rolls.
2. Give the meaning of a
political party.
A political party is an organisation formed by a group of people
with certain ideology and agenda to contest elections and hold power in the
government.
3. Distinguish between two party
system and multiparty system.
Two party system
• Only two major parties exist.
• Ex. USA, UK
Multi-Party system
• More than two political parties exist.
• Ex. India, Srilanka, France, Italy
4. What is a pressure group?
A pressure group is a group of people who are organised actively
for promoting and defending their common interest by exerting pressure on the
government.
