Plants are called primary producers. They produce starch, protein and fats from sunlight, water and carbon dioxide and other nutrients.

Plants are called primary producers. They produce starch, protein and fats from sunlight, water and carbon dioxide and other nutrients. Some of the animals and microorganism consume the plants and grow and gain weight. The carnivorous animals eat the animals that graze and gather energy from the plants. The dead plants and animals are decomposed by microorganisms. Some of the microorganisms decompose and make some of the nutrient available in a manner for the plants to absorb from soil. us a series of organisms each dependent on the next as a source of food. is link is called as food chain.
