EXAMPLE 1

1. Add 4 kg 530 g and 3 kg 698 g.


 Answer: 8 kg 228 g

2. Subtract 23 kg 345 g from 55 kg 207 g


Answer: 31 kg 862 g

 

EXAMPLE 2

Kavitha bought 3kg 435g of apples, 1kg 350g of oranges and 2kg 355g of mangoes. What is the total weight of the fruits that she bought?

Solution:

Weight of apples = 3kg 435g

Weight of oranges = 1kg 350g

Weight of mangoes = 2kg 355g


Total weight = 7kg 140g

 

EXAMPLE 3

A box full of bottles weighs 12kg 248g. The weight of empty box is 2kg 290g. What is the weight of the bottles in the box?

Solution:

Weight of the box full of bottles = 12kg 248g

Weight of the empty box = 2kg 290g


Weight of the bottles in the box is 9 kg 958 g.
