Before deciding to provide services for office-based procedures, there are a number of issues related to the procedure, the office, and the practitioners that need to be addressed. These are as follows:

Procedure: 

·  The patient is able to recover and be discharged from the facility in a timely fashion

·  Patient selection

Office:

·  Compliant with all federal, state and local regulations

·  Monitoring and resuscitation equipment available

·  Emergency and transfer protocols exist

Practitioners: 

·  Personnel qualifications to deliver appropriate level of clinical care 

·  Scope of practice within the capabilities of the practi-tioners and facility
