Active Server Page Objects
Active Server Pages provide several built-in objects to offer programmers straightforward methods for communicating with a Web browser, gathering data sent by an HTTP request and distinguishing between users. Figure 25.1 provides a brief description of the most com-monly used ASP objects.
The Request object is commonly used to access the information passed by a get or post request. This information usually consists of data provided by the user in an XHTML form. The Request object provides access to information, such as “cookies,” that are stored on a client’s machine. This object also provides access to binary information (e.g., a file upload). The Response object sends information, such as XHTML, text, etc. to the client. The Server object provides access to methods and properties on the server.
