Poisoning Severity Score

As per this system, there are basically 4 grades of severity:

POISONING SEVERITY SCORE

The European Association of Clinical Poison Centres and Clinical Toxicologists has proposed a guide for scoringseverity, applicable to cases of acute poisoning in both adults and children. As per this system, there are basi-cally 4 grades of severity:

None (0)—Nil/Minimal signs or symptoms

Minor (1)—Mild, transient and spontaneously resolvingsymptoms

Moderate (2)—Pronounced or prolonged symptoms Severe (3)—Severe or life-threatening symptoms

In minor poisoning, symptomatic and supportive treatment is generally not required, whereas this normally is the case for moderate poisoning. In severe poisoning, advanced sympto-matic and supportive treatment is always necessary.
