Naltrexone is also a pure opioid antagonist with a high affinity for the μ receptor, but with a signifi-cantly longer half-life than naloxone.

Naltrexone is also a pure opioid antagonist with a high affinity for the μ receptor, but with a signifi-cantly longer half-life than naloxone. Naltrexone is used orally for maintenance treatment of opioid addicts and for ethanol abuse. In the latter instance, it appears to block some of the pleasant effects of alcohol in some individuals.
