Magnesium Sulfate
Magnesium sulfate may be
effective in terminating re-fractory ventricular tachyarrhythmias, particularly
poly-morphic ventricular tachycardia. Digitalis-induced ar-rhythmias are more
likely in the presence of magnesium deficiency. Magnesium sulfate can be
administered orally, intramuscularly, or, preferably, intravenously, when a
rapid response is intended. The loss of deep ten-don reflexes is a sign of
overdose.
