The changes are summarized in Table 81.1. Cardiac tam-ponade typically presents with “equalization of pressures”: the central venous pressure (CVP), right ventricular dia-stolic pressure, pulmonary artery diastolic pressure (PAP), and the pulmonary artery occlusion pressure (PAOP) are equal and usually approximately 20 mmHg.
